During June of 2026 I traveled to Ireland and Scotland for 15 days, and it was a life changing experience being able to immerse in another culture, drive a car with the steering wheel on the right side of the car on the left side of the road and on single track roads with pull off passing points every 30 yards, and just witness the cities, coastlines, architecture, and landscapes. It was awe-inspiring visiting places and castles that are more than twice the age of our country of America. Ireland was a very warm and welcoming country where everyone seemed to be laid-back and happy. No one was every in a hurry, and it was absolutely beautiful and green. We saw many beaches, rugged coastlines, and mountain passes. Scotland was incredibly beautiful as well, but was a more rugged country, especially the further north we went into the highlands. Visiting places like the Cliffs of Moher, the Giant’s Causeway, the Isle of Skye, Edinburgh, and Dublin was inspirational. We experienced a great variety of types of sites, and below are some of the highlights. We were fortunate to have good weather the majority of the time. The skies weren’t always great for taking pictures, but we only had rain effect us parts of a couple of days. If you are thinking about traveling to either country, do not hesitate. You will enjoy it!! I would gladly go back, and if I were to do it again I wouldn’t stress about the driving. It was easy to get used to. I also would have liked to spend an extra 2 or 3 days in each country to slow down a little more, so I would do them separately instead of together. I wouldn’t say we left anything out that we wanted to see; it just would have been nice to have an extra day in the big cities, eat out more at the restaurants, and not have to drive as much at a time. Traveling to Ireland and Scotland was a once in a lifetime experience, so I don’t regret the way we planned the trip out at all.
